I am still vibrating from the performance. To say this show was incredible and overwhelming is a massive understatement—it was truly beyond words. The Theyyam performance was a deeply profound, transcendental experience. The artist didn’t just perform; they completely transformed, taking every single person in the audience directly into a mesmerizing, spiritual world. The sheer devotion, the striking attire, and the intense energy left me with goosebumps. Just when I thought my emotions couldn't peak any further, the Kalaripayattu performance began. The explosive power, agility, and precision of the martial artists were breathtaking. It felt primal and electric—it genuinely woke the warrior in me. These ancient art forms are the true heartbeat of our heritage, and they absolute must be preserved, celebrated, and encouraged for generations to come. A massive shoutout to the owner, Sangeeth. He was absolutely fantastic! His passion for these art forms shines through in how beautifully the entire show is curated and managed. He made sure the audience felt welcomed and understood the cultural depth of what we were witnessing.

A mesmerising evening spent at Kochi Folklore Odeum. The meander through corridors added to the mystery of the evening. We arrived at an intimate space with seats and a stage. Kala Mandalam Ashoka on the Chenda (drum) Kala Nilayam Bineesh the singer, Sadanam Mohan showcased the Kathakali Demonstration and played Surpanaka. The main character of Rama was played by Rajesh. The makeup was done by Sandeep. A great glimpse into the world of Kathakali. The dancers have been practicing their craft for 35 years they said!!! A group of dedicated young men who showcased breathtaking moments of the vigorous and oldest martial art form, Kalaripayattu. They should be applauded for their focus, as getting to this stage of professionalism takes at least 8 years of sustained training. The Theyyam might not have been in a temple, but the phenomenal performer Rathulraj did not take away from its intensity of his devotion and dedication to the devine art form. He is certainly a chosen one. It is just unfortunate that Kalaripayattu and Theyyam are not given as much credit and focus as they deserve by tourists. Theyyam might soon become another dying art form if it is not given the support it needs. I am glad that this company has made it its mission to help these art forms shine in this corner of Keralam.

Such an enthralling performance — I could not take my eyes off the dancers. Their expressions and movements were absolutely brilliant and so captivating to watch. The singer and drummer were exceptional as well, creating an intense and exciting atmosphere throughout the show. One of the most fascinating parts of the experience was watching the artists do their own makeup before the performance began. They were warm and pleasant to talk to, and we enjoyed chatting with them for a while as they prepared. Overall, it was a truly memorable cultural experience. A must see when visiting Fort Kochi. Entry fee is Rs. 500 per person.

Sasikala started her career in dance with Mohiniyattam. Later her affection towards Kathakali led her to be associated with Kathakali maestro Kalamandalam E. Vasudevan Nair. Later for her higher studies she got her intense training under Late Padmashree Shri. Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair. She has performed with all the stalwarts of Kathakali in leading roles. Her ideas, experience and contribution continue to bring glory to the organization while preserving Kerala's rich artistic heritage.
